I just watched this movie on Direct TY for the ump-teenth time, and everytime I watch it, I love it even more. There are so many drop dead funny lines and scenes. I like the one where Harlan and Marlon are in the bar talking with Devo, and they are trying to talk quietly about murdering Joey. As someone walks by, Harlan lowers his voice in the conversation to say, "It's still", and as the person passes, Harlon shouts "Murder!!" Great scene! Funny!

It proves that America is an Italian Country!

can I pick just one line?? NO god this movie is so funny Harlon and Marlon on the taxi driver.Marlon: hey be cool man I mean he's just a taxi driver he's not like what's his name What's his name? Marlon: You know Harlon: right. Those two every thing they say is funny Joey: Cheese and crackers hun Pretzels? Joey: come on everybody lets go monapoly!! Devo: I was just getting a bandaid for joeys head. I can't believe more people don't know about this fuuny funny movie

Truly one of the funniest movies it has been my privilege to watch. Of course what would one expect with the great Kevin Kline, Joan Plowright, Tracey Ullman, and the three stooges, Harlan, Marlon, and Devo. In a class with Blazing Saddles, I'm All Right, Jack, and The Producers.

Only two things are actually knowable:
It is now and you are here. All else is merely a belief.

defienetely one of the funniest movies ever made. I mean Kevin Kline is defenitily a comic genius IMHO (A Fish Called Wanda, Soapdish, Fierce Creatures) He rules as Rod/Vince McCain. Great character actor especially when he plays one of another nationality.

Yeah, this movie sure rocks, I laugh my ass off every time I watch it, LOL!! You know when River disguises himself to go find Harlon and Marlon and then the bartender says in a second: "Hey Devo!" Lololol... Or Devo: "I know how to fire a gun, my brother was in the National Guard"..ROFL, there are so many good moments! And surprisingly enough, all of my friends whom I showed the movie, had seen it but just didn't know it by name, but they sure remembered it being funny. Lol, this movie's great! and the cast too. River is just adorable:)!

I loved it! It wasnt the BEST movie in the world in terms of screenplay and such but it's so ENTERTAINING! "I aint never killed no one before" "How hard could it be?" Haha. I thought it was awesome I really enjoyed watching it. I love River Phoenix and that's what drove me to watch it but I got a lot more than just him out of it. It was so cool it really was.

"No I will not shoot him again! I can't believe I did it the first time!"

Harlon: Oh...Nothing (eyes looking up)...

Harlon: So long Joey. We'll see you again. (winking)

Always gets me... William Hurt should do more comedy...I never realized he was in this film...So funny

It's been along time since I've seen this movie. I couldn't watch it for awhile because of River Phoenix being in it and the sadness I felt over his death. Now that I'm watching it again after more than ten years, I see it really is a funny movie. Tons of hilarious lines. Along with all the above quotes, I love William Hurt's line, "How are you feeling Joey? Are you feeling ok?" as Kevin Kline's Joey is walking around with two bullets and two bottles of sleeping pills in him. Great movie, great lines, great cast! I Love You To Death is a great movie that really makes me laugh. I'm glad Encore is showing it now.

Hahah this film is awesome!
Harlon and Marlon when they are stoned and are so fixated on playing pool when they are in the bar...cracks me up!

Rosalie's mum is HILARIOUS, the whole idea of murdering someone, in America, is like national pasta - I think thats what she refers it to... lol hilarious character.

Its a shame that it isn't well publicised...was it when it was first released?
I mean there should be more recognition for it these days...most movies now tbh are quite rubbish.

she says "in america people kill each other left and right, it's like national passtime".
that's why, later, when the first person hired to kill Joey jumps out of the bush with a baseball bat (the first of many failed attempts) Rosalie later says "A baseball bat, mother? No wonder you thought it was the national passtime."

One of my favorites!
I found this movie looking up what River Phoenix had been in. I bought it and now i love it!
River phoenix can be really funny, I didn't know that until I saw this movie.
Its a shame what happened to him.

Totally agree! Haven't seen it in a long while, but it just gets better every time. And, the Harlan and Marlon scenes are my all time favorites! Again, it's been a while since I've seen it and I had totally forgotten about the bar scene with Harlon and Marlon! (I was only remembering the scene in the bedroom with the baseball bat, which was TOTALLY hysterical!) I think that Keanu Reeves and Willam Hurt worked so well together that it was just amazing. Their total deadpan delivery and their comedic timing was 100 % excellent! I LOVE THIS MOVIE TO DEATH TOO!!!!!! .......Reggie...Reggie...Reggie!!!!!.........fp
