This is a movie I've wanted to re-watch for years but not enough to go the Amazon/eBay route. I figured it was probably on DVD and I would eventually find it in the bargin bin @ Walmart. But I won't have to pony up even that much because I found it at a thrift store today, on VHS, for .49.

But it's nice to know it's on DVD in case I really like it and want to upgrade.

I doubt it will be in stores. Its an mgm dvd on demand kind of thing. The dvd format is a dvd-r from mgm.

This movie is a guilty pleasure for me, and was available on DVD in the UK a long time ago. If you have a DVD-R you know it's a pirate copy.

But this DVD-R was actually released by it's proper rights holder, MGM. So it's a legitimate release. Sorry if this is 3 months late, by the way.

What's up with all that DVD-R "on-demand" crap? It's out on a proper R2 DVD in the UK, why not just get that one? (And the "waaah, my DVD-player isn't region-free" argument isn't valid, as any movie-fan with self-respect would have a region-free player ;)

This movie is sooo sweet, I have it both on VHS and DVD.. I wish I had the laserdisc as well! :D

I think one of the primary reasons, if not the main reason, is that the major studios seem to be doing this MOD stuff is because they feel that it would not make them enough money or sales if it was released on a proper pressed release. I'm not a huge fan of the whole MOD thing myself, but sometimes, you just have to take what you can get. The MOD DVD-R came out as soon as I was ready to get the Region 2 DVD (I do have a region-free player, by the way) so I decided to get the MOD DVD instead. It suits me fine for now. With the way it probably has sold, however, it could warrant a possible proper pressed region 1 release. That's just my 2 cents though.

Ah, okay.. I guess that makes sense in a way.. it's like pre-selling a movie, before deciding to properly release it? Haven't heard about that before, but it's probably the way the business is moving right now, with DVD-stores (like Blockbuster) closing down everywhere.. :/

But at least we have Abraxas, Guardian of the Universe out on a "proper" release ;)

And now I think Shout! picked this one (I Come in Peace) up for a possible special edition.

I'm happy to have it, too; I just watched it and think that it looks quite good.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

Yes the picture quality was good. No complaints from me.
