A great movie as a kid

I remember seeing this movie on Disney Channel when I was young.

Born in 1982, this movie released in 1990 so I probably saw it around 90 or 91. I cannot believe it was dubbed, I didn't notice at the time, but I was young.

Anyways as a 9 or 10 year old boy I LOVED this movie. I'm pretty sure I saw it a few times and really identified with the protagonist. I also had a lego pirate ship and I recreated lots of scenes of the movie. In fact it is coming to me now, an awesome ship crashing into a rock off the island.

Tell you what parents, if you have a little boy around 7-11 they will really enjoy this movie. I enjoyed it endlessly at that age and have not seen it since. But thanks to Wikipedia and IMDB I've rediscovered it, or at least the memories left of it. I remember being 10 and wondering, "what is Calcutta?" hehe. A really good adventure movie for a young child tho.
