A gorilla?

What was that gorilla doing on the island? It was located on the route between Australia and India, while the gorillas live only in Africa. Putting there an orangutan would have been more correct.

but it's not as scary as a gorilla :p

It's a moo point.

Because the film is based on a book written some time in the 19th century, and I excpect the author didn't know much about where gorillas actually live. And it works for kids. I saw this film 3 times at the cinema when I was a kid, and the gorilla was really scary.

I've actually read the book and don't recall any gorillas in it. It's been a long time since I've read it though so I could be wrong.

The film differs from the book in many ways and I liked the film more. Probably because that's where my childhood memories lies.

It's a Disney movie. What do you expect?

Obviously the gorilla escaped from a traveling seagoing circus.
