I know for a fact it is released in England, under the title "Shipwrekced".
Don't know if that is the same as the mulitregion you are referring to.
Sadly, that is the inetranational versioon of the fim, and not the vastly superior norwegian.
But it is only a matter of time until this will get a proper DVD release.

My siblings and I loved this movie when we were kids too. What's the difference between the American/English version and the "vastly superior Norwegian" version? Does it include parts that were cut or what?

Also, I saw a copy of this on ebay:

The difference is the acting.
Every scene was shot in two ways. First, in norwegian, then in english.
Thusly the movie exists in the norwegian language and english language version. Not dubbed, shot in both languages. Other than that the versions are more or less identical.
In the scenes where the english and the norwgian interact, there is no difference since thenorwegians speak english, these are the same in both versions.
However, in the all english version movie, all the norwegians acting is very stiff and forced, particulary in scenes featuring only norwegians, since they have to pay more attention to the language on the expense of the acting.
When they can speak their mother tongue, the acting is subtly better, the lines comes MUCH more natural etc etc.
It may seem asubtle differnce, but when comparing the two, it is actually quite substancial.

That's interesting Norse Sage, thanks for the info. I always enjoyed the English version, but as a purist I'll seek out the Norwegian version now.
