What about the crew?

I just watched this movie for the first time, it was incredible. But by the end I didn't feel like the entire story had closure. What about all those Russian crew members that were "rescued" (against their wills) by the U.S.? Are they just going to be placed in a CIA witness protection program, even if they did not want to defect themselves, with no further contact with friends of family back home? Because if they were to make any contact back home, then Russia would know that they were still alive and would be hunted down, including all the officers, by spy agents working inside the U.S., no? Or am I being naive?

Come on dude use your brain... The answer is pretty damn obvious what would happen to the crew....

Im not gonna tell you how or why cause I want you to think and try and figure it out yourself which I am pretty sure you are capable of, but I'm gonna give you a hint:

They returned home to the USSR.

There is also another answer - There is another thread about this same subject that is still active on the first page. 👍

The "other" thread is by the same OP and posted at the same time. He double posted and failed to delete one post, I answered his question in depth already on the other, this thread was dying to obscurity with no responses until realkiller responded.
