Hunt for Red October or Clear and Present Danger

Both the best of the TC works on screen.. Personally I love all things TC (yes I even liked SOAF) but these two are far the best of the lot... I have a hard time saying which is better imo as both are entertaining from start to finish...

Hopefully this new TV series with John Krasinski will be just as good...

Book or film? I think both novels are excellent. Between the two I'd pick Clear and Present Danger.

Film wise HFRO wins in a landslide CaPD sucks. It's not a good film.

Film: The hunt for Red October. It's a masterpiece and in my opinion one of the best movies ever made. Everything is 100%: the acting, the editing, the score (Poledouris you genius !), the effects, ... And there are even some Hitchcock references or influences here and there

Book: only read The hunt for Red October. Never read anything else by Clancy. I did however play some of the video games back in the late 90's.

I'm just on my way up to Clavius.

Full agreement - THFRO is one of my favorite films of all time. Out transcends its genre and is and absolute masterwork in casting, acting, directing, editing, scoring, sfx, etc, etc, etc ... on these boards I've also seen many former service members point out its technical realism, down to the headphones worn by crew members ... just an absolutely amazing movie

Red October is by far the better film imo.

Book and film, The Hunt for Red October hands down.
This is one the most satisfying action/adventure/suspense/cold war movies ever.

Movie: Hunt for Red October.

Book: Same, although I'm basing that on a pretty vague decade-old memory of CaPD. I should re-read it.
