$15,000 dollar house?!

In reference to the house John Witherspoon was living in and mentioning to the cops and the noisy kids what he paid for. Seriously, it's Los Angeles! Not an extravagant neighborhood, but certainly not a ghetto, either! Unless I assume he bought the house in the 1960's.
