Will Smith would have hammed it up too much. Jazzy doesn't seem like enough of a personality to pull off playing a character like Play. He's better in short, sharp vignettes (like he did in Fresh Prince).
shareThey were the original choice as the leads for House Party but right as they were about to film the movie, Will chose instead to do Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Everything worked out well for all parties.

I've been hearing that Will and Jazz was suppose to be in House Party but that would have been amazing to see. I think it worked best with Kid & Play.

shareWouldn't have been much of a buddy/buddy movie which is what made House Party so popular. Will Smith would have dominated the movie. Jazzy Jeff doesn't have much of an outgoing personality like Play.
