Favorite Line?

..."head looks like a whisk broom..."
His dad says as he is stomping down the street
to find him..

..."i come from a town called right up a cop's ass, and I am gettin
homesick"... (the dad talking to the 2 cops)

..."I'm playing (DJ) for the elephant graveyard.." George Clinton

Robin Harris, so effin funny, at his finest here! Love him. RIP.

Sydney-"Do you think my clothes match? Sharane-"Of coarse you match. That's the problem." Sydney- "I think I match too much." Sharane- "I told you not to buy those Garanimal clothes girl. Shopping at K-Mart..." that always brings back memories of the 80's., lol

The other favorite lines (don't know exact, IMDB doesn't have them on "Quotes", why is beyond me, it was one of things you remember about the movie & Martin Lawarence in his early days.....

Dragon breath Bilal, (unknown girl)- "Has anybody ever told you your breath stinks?"

the line about Dick Gregory (if you know what who he was or what that was referring to, than your just as old as I am....damn too old).....lol, the good old days......

& last, probably all of Robin Harris's lines, he was funny (rip)....

reply

Yes, caliqqq! I remember the Dick Gregory diet, too!! haha
My dad drank it. Love that line. Also the Gar-animals line.
Guess we are both old enough to get it!
All I know, is older is wiser, because I usually manage to answer
final Jeopardy question correctly alot more, now.... I love being Older!

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned one of the funniest scenes in the movie with my favorite lines..
When Stab and his bullies come up to Plays house, knock on the door and Play opens the door tries to close it but Stab holds it open and so Plays buds come to his aid and try to act tough. Stab takes a swing at them and they all duck and then Stab sniffs the air and says"Hmm smells like a bunch of pussies". Then after he and his friends walk away someone yells"Well we would smell like pussies to a bunch of diks" Stab and his buds rush the door but it's slammed shut , they curse and start walking away again when Kid opens the door and says " Hey Stab ,I'd love to come out and play witcha right now but I'm too busy wit yer girl on my lap" and he gestures like he's banging a chick then slams the door before Stab can grab him. I laughed so hard at that line by Kid classic.

"So, a thought crossed your mind? Must have been a long and lonely journey"

@ladybluelady33, you said it! I tease about being old & knowing history, but I love it too! Tell my kids that & they I'm an old poot(Lol), but yea Dick Gregory, I know my ex-husband's father use to drink it too, while he was eating a sandwich, its no wonder why alot of people didn't lose weight, they weren't really following it properly...lol, Also I forgot to add another favorite line, from John Witherspoon, as the neighbor "quit playing that damn public enema", lol, that one gets me all the time too! Ladyblue, thanks for bringing up the memories w/this! I wish we all could go back in time, it was truly a blast!!!
Not to mention the soundtrack to this was fab (oldskool baby & what was the other word my kids make fun of me for?? oh yea "the bomb"...) :)

@BigWhiskers, oh yea those were so crude lines & funny!!!, remember Stab was part of Full Force, (Lisa Lisa & the Cult Jam), that dude alone was iconic of most men in those days that wore those baggy workout pants w/the big buffness & hairstyle (yea I was one of those school girls that had a crush...SORRY!), anyhow you reminded me of the other funny crude stuff/line, the one about the party goers (men) waiting in line for the restroom, & something (sorry I am getting senile & haven't seen the movie in awhile) about the dude dropping bricks in the commode....at that time as a youngster I could not stop laughing at that, it just sounded so funny....

One of my fave lines is when Stab and co are driving in the car and they're talking about Kid:

"Man, I be alone with a woman sometimes and I'm damn near about to *sings* wax that ass and all i can do is vision this fool" I crack up everytime.

Another fave is when Bilal and Play's girl are arguing in the car.

reply

I'm surprised no one mentioned:
'Peanut, go get me some kool-aid
Ain't no more
Then go make some
Grape or Red?'

Others:
'That mumble mouthed mutha f*&$*er'

'I know my hair is through'

'Follow the drip, follow the drip'

'I bet it was that dude in the leather jacket - he looked like he could sh!t some bricks...neck like Mike Tyson'

'Have you ever....
NO, I never NO'

Just watched it for the first time in like 20 years on IFC. Couldn't believe I heard "c*ckblock"! Thought that was a 2006 thing. And I'm not young either. When Sydney is changing into her jammies and Kid says, "I don't know whether to watch or run." And his final line out of the cell: "That should do the trick. And one more thing: suck my d***!!"

"If I had ya where I wanted ya, they'd be pumpin your ass full of formaldehyde!"

reply

IFC brought back the memories for me as well.

A couple of my faves [kinda paraphrased]:

"Why did you call his mother a garden tool?" [the principal after the fight; just reminds of the times before 'ho' was in the broad popular vocabulary.]

"Y'all acting like it's Soul Train! Where's Don Cornelius with his stiff neck?!"

"Public enema?! Who would want a public enema!"

[Both by the neighbor played by John Witherspoon.]

Also, I remember my friends and I would say, "I'm going to get those digits," spoken with a faux British accent like that dude at the party.

reply

I loved the part where Pops storms the party...and one of the kids tells him to "go watch late night" and Pops starts talking a bunch of trash and calls him something like "you little trout-mouthed heathen" lol

reply

i like the part when kid was in jail and the guy says:

"beat a police sergent with his own club"

"and didn't run after he did it"

the guy then says convincingly

"HELL NAW"!!

haha. that was hilarious to me.

reply

Yeah that is what he says. He asks the kid his name and he says Clinton X. Pops then says " well go make me two bean pies and a pork chop sandwich you little trout-mouthed heathen". Then he starts in on the dude with the Jheri curl. He says " I should have know you was here I saw the puddle in the drive way, ,you better never commit no crime cause they won't have no problem finding you. They just have to follow the drip follow the drip". Love that scene .

2 things. 1.) That is your opinion. 2.) You are wrong.

reply

"grape or red?"

"your man (moves her hands in the shape of Kid's hair)...your man"

almost any Robin Harris line, esp. "every little step you take is gonna be around this bedroom tonight"

"look at all that sugar, it makes my teeth hurt looking at it"

in the rap when Play says "kid spelled backwards describes you best"

reply

John Witherspoon: "Yall shut the hell up down there I paid 15,000 dollars for this house."......Bathroom scene Clinton X: "I bet it was that *beep* in the leather jacket he look like he could sh!t some bricks"(other dude shaking his head"Neck like Mike Tyson")....Hudlin Brother on the bus: "F$&k you lookin at?" Fat man having sex: "Fine motherf$&ker you c'mere...GIMME THAT PU$$Y!!!"

reply

I have a few.

Walter (John Witherspoon): "Brother, you by yourself. What's wrong? Maybe that big water head you got."

When Kid cuts through a house to get away from the bullies we see a coffin with a dead guy in it in the front room. As he runs through the house we see a few guy sitting at a table playing poker, and you can just make out one of them saying: "Look at my hand again, you'll be like that man in the front room."

Pops at the party: "l should've known you was here. Saw the drippings outside. With your Jheri-Curl, better never do a crime. The police would have no problem finding you. Follow the drip, follow the drip."

Pops: "I should've known you was here. Saw the drippings from the driveway. With your Jheri-Curl, you better never do a crime. The police would have no problem finding you. Follow the drip, follow the drip."

reply

John Witherspoon "yes you have got big ones baby" and then to his wife "you should find out what she's eating so you can get some too!"

Stab "anyone got a light?" Cop "how about a bud light?"

Play to Groove "Man, why you got to play the Alchy-role".
