from the filmakker's perspective

this is an excellent film.

as a filmmaker this film is a good study. every other shot looks great and i love the use of ambient sound in this one. the pacing is great and whatsmore hopper caught a certain mood on film that is really authentic.

not to mention the actors did well and the story is excellent. great writing. the whole plot unfolds with you on the edge of your seat.

on top of all this i said here, this film has great sense of style about it. man, i can't even really label it. it's kinda hitchcockian, but it's not. it's kinda 'fly on the wall' but also has a doc feel about it. this film has a feel to it i can't put into words.

as an aside, i have lived many years in small towns exactly like the one in this film. the small minor minor sensory details in this film PERFECTLY capture the way of life in small towns such as this. i can't really explain it here, except to say that this film is right on. it's an excellent representation.
