filming locations?

i know most of the principal photography was done in taylor texas and the north end of austin texas, but where was the river picnic scene with don johnson and jen connolly filmed? it looks familiar, maybe pedernales falls state park? anyone have any clues?

Hamilton Pool, near Dripping Springs Texas.

I think the river picnic scene was filmed in Hamilton Pool just outside Austin.

the downtown sequence was filmed in downtown Taylor, Texas

some of the film was shot at the old Zedler mill in Luling.

Where were the sand dunes? Hardly Luling or Taylor - ?

Those scenes depict Harry traveling to the greater Austin area in West Texas. The sand dunes are located at Monahans Sandhills State Park, which is along I-20 midway between Pecos and Midway, about 25 miles from the border of New Mexico.
