John Candy saying he had some hits in the early 70s?!?!

How old is his character meant to be? Candy was 12 when 1970 hit.

No. He was born in 1950. SO that would make him 20 in 1970.

You're a bit late to this conversation. The OP was apparently confused about Candy's birth date, assuming he was younger than he was which a previous poster corrected him on & the OP already acknowledged.

I'm sure he meant with his polka group in the movie, to me early 70's is anywhere from 1970 to 1973
