About the cop
In the scene where the cop goes to the house to check on Kevin, a couple things bugged me.
?First off, why did the call operators act as if it was so annoying that a mother stuck in another country wanted to make sure her child was alive and well? Uh, excuse me, Crisis Intervention or whatever it was called, Is that NOT a bit of a crisis?!
?When the cop did go to the house to check on Kevin he just pounded on the door a couple times and left.
A)By law,(even in 1990 or 1989 when this was actuall filmed) cops ALWAYS announce themselves when they knock on your door.
B)Common sense would say any kid stuck home alone unexpectedly would probably be scared crapless at a pounding on the front door. I'm an adult and that would be a bit unnerving.
?Not related to the cop thing but also odd to me- after the spill disaster, (which I understand was greatly annoying to them, but still-) when Uncle Frank (do I have the right name?) Yells at Kevin and calls him a jerk, I was just thinking that was crossing a line. When I was a kid, or as a parent myself, if anyone else called my kid a jerk I wouldn't just stand there. I think that's sort of a line you don't cross, calling someone else's kid a name. Kind of disrespectful.
Anyway, I'm a fan of the movie and I just thought I'd mention a couple things I found odd. Anyone else?
