Similar to Lars von Trier's 'Europa' (1991)?

Not really. Von Trier's film tells about the post-war Germany, the rebuilding efforts and the questions of guilt. Also, the German anti-occupation Werwolf resistance movement is featured, although it's highly fictionalized.

This movie is Nazi era while Trier's film is post-Nazi. Both have an undercurrent of dark humor running through them.

And this is less self-indulgent.

Why would you even ask this if you disqualify the title?
