He should have shaved his head

Every time I saw "Henry Miller" I thought Fred Ward looked silly in that half bald wig. It was so obvious. I'm surprised it isn't listed in "goofs." It was a huge false note in an otherwise carefully crafted movie. I found it jarring --like it was screaming this is a movie -- I have hair in real life.

I agree, just watched it the other day... It was too obvious... was it such a problem to shave it off?! It's not like it won't grow back again! lol.

Yeah, I have to say I agree with the whole Bald Cap argument. Though I never really noticed it was that bad until I watched it on bigger screen. I have to say that if Johnny Depp was willing to shave his head for Fear and Loathing you'd think Fred Ward could have taken a similar leap. I once read somewhere that Alec Baldwin was original cast as Henry, I wonder if he would have shaved his bean.

I don't know about Fred Ward's particular case, but some actors have an almost superstitious fear of shaving their heads for a role. For instance, George Clooney refused to shave his for "Syriana": he said he was afraid it wouldn't grow back.

Johnny Depp is a wimpy little poseur, and a wannabe Keith Richards. Ward can out-act Depp any day of the week.
