Two reasons I don't really get the appeal:

1. Are we supposed not to find out that the Mark 13 was a population control droid until the girl just spells it out?
That's a legitimate question, on one hand it's fairly obvious:
a. The movie opens with the Bible quote.
b. The burglekutt guy (i forgot his name in this movie, Avla or something like that) learns that its a called "Mark 13"
c. The television thing talks about population control.
I'm not sure which one of these scenes came last but that's when it becomes pretty obvious, and that's quite early in the movie.
But on the other hand the girl says her line like we're supposed to find out only when she announces it.

2. Ehm, isn't this basically a low-budget Terminator clone once they just get the story and establishing shots out of the way?
(Which I admit were a bit interesting)

You didn't get the appeal because it's all about the style, dark, dirty, strong, adult, and emotional.. You're too hung up on figuring out the story, which is quite self explanatory.. Relax and take in the art to this film

Art? B.s.

All movies are art, and this is a sci fi/horror/art film.. Compared to Interstellar this is a painting right from DaVinci's finest.

How am I hung up on figuring out something that does not need any figuring out at all? Which was, like my whole point?

Also I've talked about the "art", it's not enough to make a good movie, not for me at least.

Because your OP asks abut 4-5 questions strictly about the story. It`s a movie not every movie makes perfect textbook sense, especially this an art sci-fi. maybe you just have an issue with the bible?
