How did the last thug die?

Sorry for what sounds like a dumb question, but how did the last bad guy die? Am I missing something everytime? Or, did he die at all? Bald poker wielding man... "Now you're a good cop..." It looks like he might have been choked or neck broken...or possibly he had a heart attack? That scene always bugged me as being a little rushed... Anyone ever stop to watch that scene to see just what happened? Not a crucial moment by any means, but after all these years after seeing that scene, I still can't figure out what happened to the guy.

This was a fun movie... Check your brain at the door flick... So so typical of late 80s/early 90s action flicks.
