He really owned his scene. Such a giant of an actor. I heard Mel was intimidated to act with him. I don't blame him, Scofield was a beast actor.

Agreed! Scofield was the most heartbreaking, moving and chilling ghost, not quite as spectral as Brian Blessed in the Branagh version, yet more "real"

I don't think anyone could have done a better job in that scene. Not even Max Von Sydow.
