shareI hate some of the remakes! I suppose if they got another really good actress like the woman who played the Guardian in this film it would be good, a script that is more developed. If the Guardian has all this power, let her have it from the start, not have it where we are worried about her and then find out she had no issues defending herself like in this film.

Personally, i don't think that it needs a remake. The UK version of the movie is perfect and by far the scariest, in my opinion. The nanny in this version is revealed to be an otherworldly woman, or, better said, a malefic forest entity from Druid mythology. She appears to be powerful from the beginning of the movie till the end. Even then, she is not completely defeated, but only sent away.
I never saw the UK version but I did enjoy the uncut American version. I thought it was very scary. I enjoyed how the reflection of the nanny could be seen on the wall, first you could see the tree and then the nanny. I don't think a remake would be any good.
sharei agree with you. having pick a good actress might make the remake work because this one sucked so bad but the again getting anything good nowadays is a mission so might as well leave it as it is. They would only give it a ton of cgi anyway.
You can always watch similar films like uninvited.
