Agreed. Bigger and better than the first. It was a very good sequel.

I like them both. I appreciate the sequel didn;t simply rehash the original but in fact made fun of itself, did everything more tongue-in-cheek and, in doing so, effectively made it fresh and original. I think I do like it better than the first, but that's no reflection on the original. just a reflection on my personal tastes.

Yeah people assume that when you say you like one thing better, they assume you didn't like the other one. That's a moronic assumption.
I thought the first movie was good - heck it was the reason why I bothered to watch the sequel. But I think the sequel topped the first in every way.
Agreed, but I like both of them. I mean, I watch the 2nd more willingly, for it's less scary. But I like the darker side of the 1st. Gremlins are really aggressive and there's a body count, and in the sequel their mission is to stir up trouble.

I don't remember liking this one at all, but after rewatching today I enjoyed it. There were some corny scenes (like Hulk Hogan), but I loved the whole meta-fiction self-parody approach they took. The movie got a lot better in the 2nd half.

I think the first one is miles ahead of the second one, it's not even close.
The first movie freaked people out so much, and scared so many kids, that there was pressure from the Soccer Moms among others, to lighten the second one up.
But I do give credit for the producers of the second one for not only lightening it up, but they completely went over the top 'campy' with it. And it worked out for what it was...
I agree. For me, not even a close comparison.
And I think Gremlins was a very good movie, don't get me wrong.
But I think Gremlins 2 is outstanding, and freakin' hilarious.

I liked Gizmo a lot back then and he gets more screen time in the first film. hence why I liked it more.
But the sequel was one of the best cinema experiences I ever had as a kid
