gremlins 3: good idea or bad

i think good, but what do you guys think?

reply

I also think good, but i have read that its very possible it may be done like Avatar in all 3D and that i think would be Bad, it would just make the movie look cheap.

If a gremlins 3 does happen it needs to be live action like the first 2 im sure with Todays advancements they could make the gremlins move and look amazing.

reply

I agree it would have to be live-action. My only problem is what they would do with it. The first one was semi-serious. The second one parodied and made fun of itself.
I'm not sure what they could do with the third one to really make it *pop*.

Gremlins in Space? Gremlins in Hollywood? I think the only thing one could do is use them in a mash-up.
Maybe "Gremlins-vs-Skynet" where Gizmo survives judgment Day and the gremlins are the ones who smash Skynet's defense grid and they wreak havoc with the terminators before Gizmo is sent through the time-displacement equipment and arrives in Kinston Falls? Chinatown? We'll let Columbus and Cameron hammer out the details.

They just better have gizmo dance in the third one if they make it.

reply

Well of course! Maybe some old-school breakdancing even.

If Joe Dante is making it or is at least heavily involved, YES.

If not, NO.

reply

It depends on what the movie turns out like but the idea of doing one in general is great it has been too long!

reply

We are getting actually another remake / reboot ... theres already an IMDB board

A good idea, IF done right. I'll re-post what I said in the other thread:

I'd love to see a Gremlins 3 myself (NOT a *beep* reboot! *beep* that *beep* as a long-time fan of the franchise. Even though the second movie was a parody of the first, I could still see a sequel picking up where Gremlins 2 left off. If you got Zach and Phoebe to reprise their roles, you could have Billy and Kate still owning Gizmo and set it 25 years after the 2nd movie just as 25 years have passed in real life, similar to what the did with Indy 4. If they didn't return, you could have a new owner and it wouldn't really matter how much time has passed since the events of the second movie.

As a change this time around maybe there could be an additional mogwai that Gizmo spawns with this other batch (whichever way he gets this time) that STAYS a mogwai and is an ally to Gizmo against the other nasty mogwais that become Gremlins. Either that or have a mogwai that is also good natured like Gizmo that becomes a gremlin but is still good and on Gizmo's side against the other gremlins.

There's a lot of ways it could work but I doubt we'll ever see it.

I would like to see a sequel. From what i recall, the sequel wasn't as good as the first. the first flick had that nostalgic speilberg quality and feel to it that bordered on the supernatural and horror, but the sequel seemed more like a comedy, that's it - More wacky and more of a mockery of the gremlins than anything else. i might have to watch it again to really evaluate it, cause i seen it 10+ years ago.

I did watch the original today on blu-ray and still really enjoyed it. The characters were all so memorable and the snowy town vibe, pre-christmas jitters was really fun and exciting. I really liked Billy's father, played by the late Hoyt Axton. If they do a Gremlins 3, it would be really cool if they included some of his country songs in the film.

reply

Me too, if it's done good.

reply

They'll probably just reboot it like they do with everything else.

reply

Good idea, they need Gremlins 3.

reply

Good, as long as Steven Spielberg isn't involved.

💩😨

reply

Bad,since they will more then likely screw it up.
