Georges Poor?

In the movie Georges is depicted as a transient of little means. Kind
of an outcast from the other side of the tracks, so to speak. When
Georges is showing Bronte his tattoo, we briefly get a glimpse of the
timepiece Georges is wearing and it is a Rolex!!! If Georges has no
money, no family to inherit heirlooms and things of the like, how could
he afford such an expensive watch? I know that it could be a knock-off
or he could have stolen it, but it just seems as though this detail was
overlooked.

"WE DON'T LIVE IN THAT KIND OF A WORLD THELMA"

I believe Georges had money, and that was one of his whimsicalities......

A gift maybe? I know what you mean though, it should be considered an overlooked detail if it is not explained, and requires a lot of allowances and odd circumstances to be given by the audience. Like, oh well maybe one day he was walking past the rolex factory and he saw it on the ground, yeah that's the ticket! You shouldn't have to cover for movies as if they were alcoholics.

Probably a goof?

Gerard may have forgotten to remove it?

Or maybe it is a fake one (prop in the movie as Georges is poor)?

reply

Well it was implied in the movie that he came from a rather shady background...i always got the impression that he was some kind of criminal so him stealing the watch doesn't seem to far-fetched to me.

I'm here because of Ashley.

Lets just leave it with both Georges and Gerard were both naughty boys in their youth and go with that version.....lol
