Why did Warick...

Want to kill the main guy and girl when they were trying to help him after he fell into the skull pit? I don't understand why he wanted to kill them both??

reply

I have no clue either. It might be because he knew they were against him and seeing each other, but why choose that moment to do away with them?

reply

Warwick was afraid of losing his job and credibility. Remember he paid off one of the inspectors with a whopping 200 buckaroos. Big spender. I have no doubt he also felt jealously because chin girl rebuffed his advances, and he was intimidated by Hall.

the bat monster was his illegitimate child.

I always thought at that point the guy had just lost his mind and gone into full blown Vietnam mode.

:D :D :D

If you watch the part where he finds that crate full of old bottles and smears the soot all over his face (after they're all trapped in the sub-basement and the main guy and girl have gone their own way looking for an exit), Warwick makes a comment basically saying it's the main guy's fault they're all trapped down there because he was the one who found the trap door. Of course it doesn't help that by this point he seems to have gone completely nuts as well

I think it's because by then the creature had become his Moby Dick and they were going to convince him to leave but he wanted to confront the monster.

Seemed like he was obsessed with finding the vermin.

Yeah, there's a bit of Ahab going on with him and the monster... but it also feels like there is a scene missing or something. The Bluto guy falls through the stairs and gets eaten... everyone starts running around... and next thing you know the two groups are separated and the boss is pissed at College Guy. It just feels like there was some additional info there that was skipped.
Also, the boss seems a bit extreme all the way through the movie... but really loses it once they're underground... like there's more backstory and he already knows about the giant whatsit.

reply

Probably because the building was condemned and he broke numerous health and safety laws. I guess he didn't want the authorities to find out what had gone on, also having seen a mutant rat/bat he lost his mind.

It's all a deep end.
