I don't understand the low score.

Granted, Shawshank Redemption it is not. However, it at least fits the bill of decent gorefest. It creates a solid atmosphere and although the premise is certainly questionable, it's handled with decent production values and appears to have been taken at least somewhat seriously by the cast. I'd put her in at least 5-ish territory.

It's gritty, it's dark, it's gloomy, it's bloody, it's twistedly funny, it's not full of forced romantic drivel, it's not politically correct, and it doesn't have CGI.

I guess that's why people hate it. They want stupid movies with giant robots, big explosions, pathetic little boys and some slutty girl as eye candy.

You said it right sir.

The Mangler gets low scores as well and thats another decent SK film based on a short story.

It's just a terrible movie. Not in a 'so bad it's good' way either. It's just plain bad. Might've helped if they hired some actors who could actually act. Feels like they just grabbed some bums off the street.

reply

Funny, all the actors are still around today and they've done tons of stuff.

reply

The actors did a good job.

reply

I asked myself that too. The atmosphere is perfect, the filthy mill and its surroundings- just perfect.

reply

I'm ALSO in agreement...
This film will never top anyone's fave movie list, but as a simple horror film, it does the job.

My, you're nosey, aren't you?

Very creative on the Spoiler. I fell for it. Got anymore? That's was pretty cool. Or pretty neat.

reply

Love the atmosphere, the mill, the cemetery, the authentic Maine-ness.

I got news for 'em. There's gonna be hell to pay. 'Cause I ain't Daddy's little boy no more.

I agree.. It should have a higher rating. It makes for a great movie around Halloween. It kept my attention the whole time.. Great movie!!

I've always been struck by the way the Actors kind of resemble other actors. The drifter that sort of looks like Mark Harmon, the girl that sort of looks like Marisa Tomei, the Foreman that sort of looks like Fred Ward, etc.

reply

Very observant you are. Can't say that about too many movies that is for sure!!

reply

I also don't understand the low score. I liked it especially because it didn't follow the same old boring Final Girl formula that's in practically every horror movie out there. For once, it's a Final Guy! I wish more movies would have a male survivor instead of a female because that cliche has been done to death.
