Is it a good movie?

I never saw the whole movie. Tell me what you thought about it. I have seen some parts of it but not enough to really comment on. What do you think?

Thanks.

Let me tell ya straight up...but u might already know, even from some of the parts u seen..the movie is horrible

But, it's fun 2 watch 2 see the songs performed by The Kid, NPG, The Time, etc. Also can't go wrong with Morris & JB bein' the comedy relief of the film.

I have the DVD of it..& the videos that's on it:

"New Power Generation"

"The Question of U" (live in Tokyo - 1990)

"Thieves in the Temple"

"Round and Round" - Tevin Campbell

**The videos that's bolded are the ones that are complete rip-offs! I say that b/c they're not the extended versions. In "The Question of U" live video shoulda been the 9:10 ver. b/c a little later on into the video Prince gets..well..ya know..Prince..lol.

In "Thieves In The Temple", just like in TQOU it's a short ver. in the extended version u can see what seems 2 be outtakes from GB.

I wish they could've added a The Time video on there..4 instance, "Chocolate"..or "Jerk Out" (think a video exists 4 that song).

As 4 the Theatrical Trailer, that like many others show outtakes/deleted scenes from the movie--specifically the "Can't Stop This Feeling I Got" performance.

Well..it seems I gave u more info about the DVD, than I guess of the movie. Basically, a so-called sequel 2 PR..Apples is gone, everybody's livin' on Seven Corners, Billy passed on leavin' both the club (not sure if it woulda been specifically First Avenue) 2 The Kid & Morris. Then there's just a battle of the bands on 'n off in throughout the film 4 the club (The Time has their own club too--Pandemonium). Aura (played by Ingrid Chavez) is this angel that s'pose 2 help The Kid & Morris, get along.

So, she makes herself appear/known & she kinda s'pose 2 take the place of Apollonia..but she's a lot different from her, Aura is spiritual not caring 4 fame..but she still attracts Morris & she becomes his main 'stella' Then just like in PR, The Kid & Morris fights 4 her affection.

Anyways..it's somewhat tolerable if u like campy movies..I still enjoy watchin' it

Yeah I heard it wasn't a 'must see'. Fortunately I tend to like campy movies and a lot of stuff that the majority does not like.

Thanks istruck for putting this straight. Knowing me I'll find something good about it anyway and watch it a thousand times or more.

Prince's music is great but his moviemaking skills are limited. He should have got a real director and screenwriter.

Here's something that might interest you guys--when this movie was released Prince attended the opening night in NYC. He left before the film was halfway through. It seems the audience was in hysterics laughing--but it wasn't supposed to be funny! I never saw this film (the reviews have kept me FAR away) but one good thing did come of it--Prince never made another movie. He is great at music--he should stick with that.

I love PRINCE, I've been to countless concerts and will follow him wherever he plays....but as a person who has been with him since his "For You" album (circa 1979)....

This is the worst piece of s**t he has ever made!!!! I thought "Under the Cherry Moon" was bad, this is worse.

Not to mention, this movie had SERIOUS sexist overtones ( I mean for god's sake, Morris and Jerome are damm near trying to rape "aura".)

Prince must have been a MoFo back in tha day. No wonder he's so religious now!

BUT the soundtrack is off the meat rack! I love every song on it.

You're better off not knowing the answer to either question.

Thanks a bunch everyone for your feedback and totally by accident, I saw it yesterday on a local station. Sitting through the commercials was really annoying but bearable 'cause I sure needed a clear moment to assess what I had just seen. I agree with ALL of you. It is a mess I must confess but since I LOVE campy movies, (well just about ANY movie really) I found this one delightful and worth purchasing and watching frequently. Seeing Prince with that long hair..... Wow! Loved it! I have a weakness for a man with long hair in a ponytail! And a 5'oclock shadow? UM UM UM!!!! He was sooo gorgeous in this film and playful. So much more inviting than the way Kid acted in Purple Rain.

For as much as it was corny and a little hard to follow at times, I enjoyed it and would love to watch it again!

Hi BlueSong.

It's been a while since you posted this and believe it or not, I just read it.

I appreciate what you said here and agree with you. Prince wrote and directed GB. I'm sure it may have come out a lot better had it been under someone else's direction.

It's amazing though how happier and at ease Prince appeared in this film as opposed to Purple Rain. He seems at his best when he is in charge of what's going on.

This movie is so horrible that it makes Get rich or die trying movie look like a academy award nominated 4- star movie.

For one thing, for a movie that references a bridge in the title, they NEVER go outside. Even the inside shots are on a soundstage, and it's always night.

Soooo horrible, and I wanted to like it. Plus Prince looks pretty creepy.
