When Spider told Tommy to go fuck himself

I think Jimmy was the only one who was genuinely laughing. The others were just nervously laughing in an attempt to defuse the situation, but they knew he was gone. Jimmy hand't accepted his best friend was a psycho.

reply

Jimmy was a killer himself, and a genuine friend of Tommy.

Nice observation.

reply

If that's the case, why did Jimmy get mad after he did it and tell Tommy he's burying the body all by himself?

reply

Hmmmmm... the answer is pretty much in the OP: "he didn't accept that his friend was a psycho." So, he didn't expect Tommy to actually kill him. When he did, he was angry at him and since he just helped him bury a body, he wasn't going to do it twice. That way, he hoped that he would teach Tommy a lesson.

reply

I guess that makes sense.

reply

Yeah, Jimmy should have known Tommy was going to kill him. He even asked, “Are you gonna let him get away with that?” He somehow had it in his head Tommy would just fire back an insult instead of killing the guy. He was pretty delusional when it came to his friend.

Excellent point, explains why Jimmy was so taken aback when Tommy got whacked instead of made

reply

^ yah this makes sense. poor ol' Spidey.. rip buds

reply

He was a rat anyway. His whole family, all rats.

reply

HE'S DEAD JIM !

The scene made me think how dumb some of these guys are. If a guy shoots you in the foot over a drink order, why would you think telling him to go f#@$ himself could end any way but bad. What's more pathetic is that after being shot in the foot Spider had such a low self opinion that he went back to work for them. A sad pathetic life.

reply

It's that old adage of standing up to your bullies to make them stop. It rarely works.

reply

It often does work. But not when the bully is a psychotic mafioso killer who would murder you with no hesitation and no regret.
