Tommy DeVito

In the book he was barely mentioned. I guess the filmmakers expanded his role in the movie adaptation just to showcase Joe Pesci. One thing I still don't get was why he was whacked. In the book he simply disappeared without a trace. I suppose it was more dramatic to show him having his brains blown out.

Well, it's pretty obvious he was also wacked in real life. In the movie it's suggested he was killed because he was a psycho who had killed a made man without permission, which also seems to have been the reason in real life.

reply

He was killed in real life by John Gotti.

I don’t think the real Tommy was as close to Henry as he was in the film, he tried to rape Karen whilst Henry was in jail.

Tommy 'two guns' DeSimone was a psychopath and even by Mafia standards too violent to keep around

He was a woman beater, a cold blooded killer and a cocaine addict...a liability in other words
And he broke the code by murdering a made man

He was a fool

Actually, in the book Goodfella's Henry was hanging around Tommy quite a bit. Yes, Tommy did disappear shortly after the Lufthansa heist and there are at least 5 theories about why he was killed and who killed him. One of the theories is that Tommy's lover, Theresa Ferrara, stole a chunk of the Lufthansa heist money, and that it was assumed she would share some of it with Tommy. Also, our fair Ferrara had just moved into an expensive $1,000 a month apartment. Ms. Ferrera was an east coast version of Casino's Sharon Stone..Ferrara was associated with mobsters and she was running her own rip-off crew PLUS she was feeding the FBI information on mob activities. Her torso was found in a river, badly decomposed. Tommy was never found.

I don't remember him being in this. But he was great as the side kick in Hoffa.

You have picked the wrong DeVito but of course you know that;)

And yes, Danny DeVito has a habit of being great in everything...lucky little fellow!

:)

Rumor is that they were going to offer the role to Danny over Joe Pesci but he came up a bit short.

Well done😂

It was Tommy DeSimone for one. And the "Tommy" character in Goodfellas was a composite character. His character was a blend of more than one person.
