Anyone read the unfilmed Godfather 3 scripts?

Back in 1990 or so I had this book titled "The Godfather Book" or something, and it went over some of the unmade versions of Part 3 that had been written between '74 and '89. I just found one of them online, dated 1979 and credited to Puzo and Coppolla (I'm betting the latter's name is just on there due to rights or something). I haven't yet gotten to read it but it appears that this is the one that takes place in the mid '70s (I believe, or perhaps it takes place in the year it was written) and features Anthony Coreleone as the main protagonist, with Michael in a minor role; it's apparently about "Tony" working for/against the CIA.

I've read the script you mention. IMO, it isn't very good. Lots of continuity errors (how is Rocco alive?) and generic action scenes, it didn't feel like The Godfather at all. I think Dean Riesner (co-writer on several Dirty Harry films) was the actual author, not Coppola and Puzo.

Apparently New Jack City, of all things, was a modified spec script for Godfather III, which would have had Michael facing off against a Nicky Barnes-style black gangster played by Eddie Murphy! Would be interested to see if said script exists anywhere.

I'm afraid that you underestimate the number of subjects in which I take an interest!
