Re-make

... No, I dont have any news about any re-make of this.

But I have been thinking alot of how such a strong story this is.

Of course I'm not talking about a re-make of the film, but of the trues tory it self.
I'm surprised that Hollywood have never made anything out of it. First of all it is a story of great humanity that should be told again and again, and in terms of "producer thinking", isn't a hero/holocaust movie a sure success at the box office?

And after the release of this film, there has been lot's of information released from the the former Soviet about Wallenberg and his death/dissapearance.

There was a strong push in the '80's to get material like this for TV, not the cinema. The Richard Chamberlain film all but ended the possibility of other --US--productions.

"He sent the rain."
"Who sent the fire?"

it doesnt need a remake, its a good movie anyhow. i loved the movie, but all the execution scenes was a bit lousy, no fire or smoke from the guns and no blood even if they where shot in the head. Stellan SkarsgÄrd as Raoul Wallenberg was great. Stellan is a great actor.

Is that so important when you consider the acts in themselves?

Perhaps I'm too concerned, my father's parents have been murdered by the Nazis at the end of the war.

I did not know the story of Wallenberg and discover it while watching the movie. To think of the passivity of the allies when the Russians, other monsters, took him and he disappeared is a real scandal. To this day no one knows when really died, and where. Some tried to find out but obstacles and so called diplomatic contacts were taken! We know what that means. Big smiles and big shake hands and the fate the man is considered nuts!

Perhaps it is best that Hollywood did not make a movie because of its huge capacity of changing the real facts to accommodate it's usual greediness and stupid melodramatic actions added to such an event which should be showed without an inch a sentimentality. Pure facts nothing else.
