One scene that bothers me...

One scene that bothers me is when Molly is upset about her boyfriend's murder and she's at the police station trying to get them to look up information about Willy Lopez. She talks about psyhics and ghosts and the female cop mocks her so cruelly. What kind of heartless person would treat her like that in light of what she's been through and feeling? Do I expect the female cop to believe in psychics and ghosts? Of course not. But I think she could've been a little more gentle with Molly in light of what she's going through. I thought the male cop was much more compassionate. He was clearly skeptical but I could tell he was trying to show her sympathy and compassion.

I totally agree with you and I think it would've been great if after that annoying lady cop said that she would never get undressed again because of ghosts being around, if molly said "well, if I were you, I wouldn't worry about that" or something similar. I mean, the lady was totally rude and who would want to see her undress? Like, get over yourself, lady.

Yeah, but come on! A psychic? This was a movie with a supernatural script, but the cop was in the real world where psychics are thieves who pray on the simple minded. Cops see all kinds of scammers taking advantage of all kinds of people.

For a movie or book, it's fun and I'm on board. In the real world, if someone tells me they believe in psychics I'll be polite but dismiss any advice or opinion they may have in other matters.

I immediately cringed at the way Molly explained the entire situation at the duo of police officers at the station.

Molly could've just told the officers that he had seen that Willy Lopez fellow on the subway a few days ago and had followed him to his apartment thus identifying the suspect. Even if the explanation would have a been lie, at least it would have been more believable than the story about a ghost contacting her from the afterlife through a medium.

Of course the police would redicule her or think that she had fallen prey to some con artist when she started to blurt out stories about ghosts and "spiritual advisors".

Molly didn't really seem like a person tactful enough to understand the situation and play through it succesfully.

Number 1, Molly had no idea Oda Mae had a record and number 2, psychics are used all the time in real life even by police officers so it's not completely senseless for her to tell the truth. But I tend to agree I would've kept it simple and left out the supernatural stuff from the police and gave a description of Willie since she saw him the night of the mugging.

I hear that this is actually common in police stations when someone is trying to ask for help with something. The people that work there act as if it is just routine and will quickly write something on a sticky note and reply, "Ok, we have written up a report and will contact you if we have further information."
