Terrible Ending Nearly Ruins the Film (Spoiler)

Spoiler Here

The movies horrible happy ending really hurt this film. It is not as good as the first one but does feature some cool special effects and does have an eerie nature, but that ending where everyone comes back to life and come out of the coffin was just beyond hokey and has left a bad taste in my mouth. I still watch it from time to time but I really wish there was a darker ending for the film.

I'm just a guy that likes horror flicks.

I have the Canadian release on DVD which isn't a bad transfer. If that helps.

Darker ending? No way! Terry should never die!
It was a little hokey but did you want all the kids to die? Moe was a goofy fun character. It could have been done a little better and been more funny but its quirky. If hes going to come came back from the dead, why not at his own funeral?

(I also loved the hamster coming out of the coffin. It was sad when he died.)

Maybe it could have ended with everyone walking away from the burial and then some smoke starts to come out of the ground. The first film was big on that visual.

WTF, I saw this pop up in Trending, and I never knew there was a sequel to The Gate! The first was one of my favorite supernatural flicks when I was a kid, and it's still a fun watch.

Did you know that Alex Winter (yes from Bill & Ted) wants to direct a remake of the original, in 3D?

So now I have to watch part 2.

Didn't know, sounds like a great idea.

The ending killed the films emotion. The film is basically the monkey's paw re-written rather than a direct sequel to the first. It was better that he actually ''died'' because it demonstrated the consequences of a persons actions.

I agree I just watched it (seen this movie so many times gigantic fan of the original) and the ending just throws things out of whack to the pace of it all there should have been something a little darker that left an option to another sequel even though it will probably never happen again like a poster suggested smoke coming out of the ground or maybe the minion growl noises something.... lol wow wtf i never noticed the very very ending after the credits the hamster coming back to life out of the coffin i guessed i never watched it all the way through the credits or that was added in lol? hmm
