Gate 2 holds up on its own

Gate 2 is not a bad sequel, it just needed some help with some of the story (mainly the ending, it was kind of rushed) and needed help with some of the FX but overall, if you don't compare it to the first film. Its a entertaining and good movie on its own. Its nice to see Terry back and Gate 2 has the familiarity of the first film (while still being a different film as well) & most sequels never can capture that. It was a decent effort.

I completely agree here as well.

I also loved that while all the characters are stock, they are developed and not one-dimensional. I also loved how this sequel was more adult oriented with the material by playing on the emotional/psychological level.

However, I do agree the ending was too much. They should have left Terry dead and not repeated the ending of the original. The Gate II was a much more mature movie that shouldn't have ended on such a sappy note.

However, at least it's left open for a Gate III which I would love to see some day... If only.

Film maker Scott Goldberg recently interviewed 'The Gate' director Tibor Takacs who stated that he would love to do another Gate movie. So there is a possibility that a third movie may yet happen.

I liked The Gate II quite a bit. For me it had some really great moments, much like the original.

Doomster! I like how the son tries to save his father. And the hot "early 90's" chic!
