This movie deserves higher rating.....

I just watched this for the first time......

I really enjoyed the film, Christine and Gene were excellent as usual.

It is comedy and drama, due to subject matter, it is well-written and well-acted overall, as well.

Granted it is more of a woman's film, however even if you've gone through the situation (as I have) you can relate to this movie.

I gave it 7/10....sit back and enjoy! :)

+1 Exactly, just saw it today on HBO. I didn't realize it was a comedy, I thought of it more as a (for lack of a good word) dra-medy. That's why everyone rates it low, it doesn't satify either side, really.

The whole time I was sitting back, watching this thing, having early nineties nostalgia and that it's a sham that Gene, such a charming guy died of a heart attack. Then, an hour later, I come here an find out Gene didn't die (god bless him).

Wrong. This movie sucked. Duffy was the most annoying ass in the world - no wonder why he was alone and miserable.

I agree with butterfly_kisses22, besides this is a Gene Wilder movie, why would a Gene Wilder movie be rated that low?

This is one of those rare movies where I’m really surprised how its results are so unwelcomed considering the majority of user comments found here.

The first striking thing from the opening is the sound. Very pleasant, unassuming, but again, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. Selection of songs and sound editing is really interestingly well done.

Gene is as always honest and such virtue is preserved by other actors to the end. Even the end follows a honest approach about the baby, and refuses to path perfect solution, thus emphasizing a genuine relationship about Lahti and Wilder characters.

I perceived this movie as truthful and unpretentious attempt in making a small but charming movie - one you can safely consider a feel good movie.

I really love this movie and can't understand the negative reviews it got. My mom took me to see it opening weekend when I was 11 and I've enjoyed it ever since.
