Ulterior Motive? GENIUS

While I DID see this movie when it hit the theater, and DID enjoy it...

Does anyone else believe this movie was written to HELP boost the Goodfather movies as a whole? If I am not mistaken, The Godfather III was released the same year. So seeing as Marlon is what these movies are known for, and he was only in the FIRST movie, I see this movie as a ploy to keep The Godfather fad alive. And to give him a boost on "re-sales" or new sales of the old movies.

Sadly I have never watched more than the first 30 mintues of the original movie, but I so have all 3 on DVD sitting on the shelf waiting for me to find time to finish off.

I read speculation in an article several years ago that Marlon Brando made this movie mostly because he was hard up for cash after spending millions on the legal defense of his son, Christian, who was convicted (I think) of killing his sister's boyfriend after the boyfriend allegedly abused the sister.

Sadly, the sister, (I'm sorry but I have forgotten her name) committed suicide a few years later.

I ask u to talk when u r completely certain that u have the right to talk.
How can someone talk about a nonsense film like freshman which by reading the credits any one can understand what type of people like this film and hasn't seen the trilogy (Godfather) yet??????!!!! U've missed the most important movie of the human history and left it in ur shelf to find the appropriate time??? R u out of ur mind?
The worse is u've seen the first 30 minutes of part one and at that time u could stop seeing the film!!!
I've seen freshman and just tried to check that what is the global idea about the film and when I found it has a rate of 6-7 in imdb I was shocked!! That how can a junk movie like this be compared to movies like 'bitter moon' or 'lock, stock and two smoking barrels'??? I knew what happened when I read the credits...
so...
it's quiet clear for me that i shouldn't rely on the 'points' that a movie has obtained but check the viewers!!

wrong mate, brando shot this movie in 1989 - 90 before the murder took place

Brando's son was arrested in May 1990, this film was released in June. As you say it probably would been shot - pun intended - early 1990.

"Please don't eat me! I have a wife and kids. Eat them!"
