remake of wise guys

Have you seen movie Wise guys (1986)? This is the same movie, i think, it is a remake.

reply

Umm, no, it's not. Wise Guys is about a guy (Ray Liotta) becoming part of a very vicious mob.

This is a quirky comedy about a NY film student who gets involved with people who may or may not be mobsters. It's central joke (and a great one at that) is that Marlon Brando is sending up one of his most famous portrayals.

This film is off-beat and sometimes sweet, but always funny. It has almost no violence at all and the "mobsters" are never shown doing anything vicious.

It is very, very different that Wise Guys.

Uhm.....I think you mean "Goodfellas". Ray Liotta was in "Goodfellas". So was Joe Pesci, he earned and Oscar for his performance.

But maybe Ry Liotta was in "Wiseguys", too.

As noted, the movie with Ray Liotta is "Goodfellas" -- the confusion stems from the fact that Goodfellas was based on a book named "Wise Guys." "Goodfellas" didn't use the book's name, most likely (at least in part) because another movie with that title had come out a few years earlier.

The movies "Wise Guys" was a so-so comedy with a Mafia milieu. The comedy and the Mafia milie is about all it has in common with "The Freshman."

It's not a remake of "Wise Guys" (or "Goodfellas," for that matter).

The Wise Guys film the original poster refers to is a comedy starring De Vito and Piscopo. I've seen both films. They have absolutely NOTHING in common. The Freshman, IMHO, is the better of the two films, though Wise Guys does have its moments, in an early-mid-eighties kind of way.

i've never seen Wise Guys, but the ending reminded me of The Sting

Actually, this sounds to me more like Tough Guys (1986), with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas, than Wise Guys!

It's in the same crime/comedy vein!

LOVE Wise Guys.

That said, The Freshman is even better.
