SOUNDTRACK: FORBIDDEN DANCE!!!

Hi there,

I'm looking for the soundtrack and it seems there is no soundtrack...
BUT! Is there anyone who can help me find the names of the songs and artists?
The names of the songs and singers should be mentioned in the endcredits but I only have a taped version of the movie without the endcredits...
So if there is anyone who has the DVD or the VHS, would you please watch the endcredits and write the songs and singers down for me? That would be GREAT!!!

reply

There is a soundtrack for the highly inferior film "Salsa", but not one for The Forbidden Dance that I could find!

Kaoma did the famous "Lambada" song. The band at the dance competition is Kid Creole and the Coconauts (perhaps the only band in history greater than The Time of Purple Rain and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back fame).

Now, my acolyte, your first task is to watch as many of Greydon Clark's other films as possible in one sitting, including Satan's Cheerleaders, Without Warning, and Angel's Brigade (NOT the blasphemous Mystery Science Theatre version, or that rip-off, Charlie's Angels). Then your mind will be prepared to take on your next task...

kaoma made the lambada song in spanish called chorando se foi

that's not spanish, it's portuguese.
jeez people, how hard is it to distinguish latin languages?

I'm gonna paralyze that bitch

reply

Calm down. He/she didn't explain it well, the song is originally in portuguese, but the song was also made in spanish. And as I remember... the song went... something like... "Llorando se fue... el que un dia no supo cuidar..." Part of the lyrics in spanish, which is very similar to portuguese since they are both derived from the latin... And yes, some people can distinguish languages. No need to be rude.

Take care everyone!

i'm looking for the song that jason and nisa danced to while auditioning for the dance competition, the one with all the bird calls at the start, does anyone know what that song is called and the artist who sang it? i have all the other lambada songs but this is the one that i really want and i can't seem to find it anywhere

reply

Hi! i don't think that track was ever released anywhere. I ripped the song from the end of the dvd (same song with out the birds). you can download it from demonoid.com, search for lambada soundtrack. its called "its Lambada (the forbidden dance)" by jose feliciano.I Uploaded it since it can't be found anywhere.

reply

Actually the song isn't originally portugese...
Kaoma copied the song from the original group who by the way came from Bolivia..
the song is called "Llorando se fue" by Los Kjarkas..
they were and still are a well known group in south america..
so get your facts straight

Dani_N_Nino thank u for the info! I remember hearing the original as a child!

i remember watching this when i was a little girl, i even remember being told to turn my face at the "dirty" parts. but i was curious of the music too, i was especially curious about the song when nisa is dancing alone in her room at the rich peoples house. i know some of the lyrics go "now he's gone away..." thats all i know for sure. anyone know which song that is?

Unfortunately, there wasn't an official soundtrack released for this movie and most of the songs don't even have outside recordings away from the film. A long while ago, when I too was vigorously searching for these songs, I found Mara Getz' website and emailed her to see if she knew of a place to get the song she had done for the movie and she said something like "most of the stuff was recorded solely for the movie and wasn't backed up."

That means, most likely, the only way we're going to have an audio file of the songs is to rip them from the movie itself.

I have found like 3 songs from the list however these ones don't appear to exist anywhere (and I know for a fact that Mara's doesn't):

* It's A Horror - Kid Creole and The Coconuts
* You And Me Alone - Mendy Lee
* Lambada: The Forbidden Dance - José Feliciano
* Always You - Joyce Kennedy
* Limba Limba Lambada - Reginaldo Pi
* Capoeira - The Dream Machine
* BH Disco - Bob Midoff
* Good Girls Like Bad Boys - Victor Merino
* Hand To Hold You Over - Mara Getz
* Last Lover - Gene Evaro
* Reaction To Passion - Gene Evaro
* It's Never Too Late - Jeff Harper

So if anyone does happen across them then that's like a diamond in a haystack hehe but otherwise I would like to ask anyone who knows how to please rip them from the film and share :)

Ok, Here's another bit of information.
I have Kid Creoles "It's a Horror" on cassette and cd. It is on His "You Should've Told Me You were Catholic" recording; BUT! it's called "My Sole Intention"!!
I think I bought it from gemm.com. And Lambada w/Cory Daye can be heard on Kid Creole's/Coconuts "Private Waters In the Great Divide". I believe the Kid has a myspace page also. I for one would die happy with that Feliciano Version :)... it's been a while since I tried tracking it down. Limba Limba Lambada can be found on "The Latin Way" which I found at amazon.com and just got in the mail today! July 2nd.

i'll sleep when i'm dead {or when i'm dead tired}
