Yes, and I'm sure it was a bit of an intentional misdirection in the beginning, before the audience get to know that he's really a good guy.

I think Dennis Hopper did model The charactor on Charles Manson as I have seen footage of Charlie doing the same hand movments!!! Though you soon warm to Huey!!! I am suprised this movie didn't do better at the box office as I think it is excellent and has a great soundtrack and has the making of a blockbust in my opinion!!!;-)
shareI think this film came at a time when people were pretty much 60'd out. The whole decade of the 80's was saturated by a bunch of baby-boomers whining about being sell-outs or continuing the fights that were 2o years old and their kids didn't care about in the face of corporatism, student loans, computer technology and 80's economics.
It's a wonderful film that doesn't criticize inasmuch as it reminds us.
