Mother's money?

In the scene where Bull is counting money with Tadgh at home and he gets money from different places in the kitchen.
He takes some money from a jug I think (coins) and Tadgh looks particularly ashamed - I wonder is this a little money his mother had aside and now is needed because he killed the donkey?

It's an interesting point but I never imagined it was in Bull's character to cheat people. I mean by all accounts the £50 Bull intended to pay the Widow initially seemed a fair price. I always just took Tadgh's expression as wincing at Bulls evident desperation, it may have been money set aside for something else but not necessarily his Mother's.

Hey! You're not old enough to drink! Now go and die for your country!!!

Granted, however I feel his desperation would have included taking her money as he would have felt she should be on board with his decisions.
