FRiedkin and Blatty made The Exorcist and they thought everything they did was just as good.

Never did they did anything even remotely good ever again in their lives. And why did Blatty makes Kinderman and Dyer look like lovers? Yikes.

Despite the incredible special effects, The Exorcist is not that great of a movie. The Shining is a far superior movie, but I'm going to assume you don't like it because it's so different to Stephen King's novel.

I haven't read the novel either. I'm put off by that godawful TV adaptation that Stephen King wrote. Perhaps the book isn't as bad, I'm not sure.
