Bill Boggs

Bill Boggs is my favorite character from Edward Scissorhands. I just love his laid back approach to all the comings and goings. The neighborhood gets weirder and a bit hysterical but he doesn’t bat an eyelid.

He’s content with his BBQ’s and his basement bar. You get the feeling that he’s a little jaded by his job(Despite extolling the virtues of hard work) and his life is not as exciting anymore...which is why he doesn’t object when Peg brings home Edward...a rather strange character no one knows in town, albeit he’s harmless.

Bill recognizes a certain kindness in Edward and in his own way welcomes him to the family.

Good observation. I want to add that when things are going downhill for Edward, Bill cares for him enough to prioritize his well-being over destroyed material objects, and tries to instill in him a more clear understanding of right and wrong.

It’s frustrating and depressing to watch at the same time, since Edward was set up by Jim to break into Jim’s parents’ house and Bill doesn’t know that.
