Well Hong Kong Legends have aquired the rights and are preparing a 2 disc special edition, that should be out next year sometime, and thats probably going to be the uncut version, so look out for that :)

I've always been wondering about this 136 minute version, cos I've only seen the 126, and I can't find anywhere any details about what's in this full version. The upcoming UK HKL DVD release is only 126 minutes, but it does mention deleted scenes, so maybe that will shed some light. Sorry, I have no more information than that. But the HKL DVD looks awesome, 2 discs, commentary, documentaries, interviews, deleted scenes, the works. Can't wait.

I have the French Laserdisc version of the film. It's in a double box set with Hard Boiled. The version in the box set has a stated running time of 132 mins, although I can't see any obvious differences between this version and the 126 min cut of the film.

Would love for John Woo to bring out a Director's Cut of this one. If any move deserved the Criterion treatment, surely it's this one.

I suppose one of the additions in the 136 minute version is the piss-drinking scene, which, as mentioned on one of the other topics, can be downloaded at: http://www.speedingbullets.tk/

There aren't any deleted scenes in the extras on the 2 disk HKL edition, only the alternate "boardroom" ending. I have to admit with all the hype surrounding this release, it's proven to be rather a disappointment to what was expected. Not much in the way of extras apart from a few interviews with Waise Lee, Simon Yam, Jackie Cheung and a few more featurettes. I wouldn't call this the "definitive" DVD edition of the movie.

Does anyone know where the extended cut can be bought. I've heard of a 3 hour version some where as well. Please help.

unfortunately well probably never see one. all extra footage was binned

Yup, too bad, the original one was about 3h long, but Woo had to cut a lot of stuff out...
I`d pay $1000 to see the original 3h movie, the way Woo wanted it to be released in the beginning. A true epic...

There's a 139 minute version available on DVD on the Hong Kong market released by Joy Sales. It's possible to watch three versions of the movie - original theatrical, alternate boardroom ending version and the theatrical with many of the deleted scenes integrated into the movie via "seamless" (hardly) branching. Sadly, in the latter version, the quality of the deleted scenes is not particularly wonderful, and there are jumps as the scenes are integrated into the film. The picture is of a much lower quality and there are forced english and chinese subtitles in these scenes.

One day I would love for all these scenes to be properly restored and included in the movie.

I suppose if the producers/directors had forseen the advent of the DVD age with all the possibilities of supplementary discs, all the extra footage wouldn't have been destroyed.
