The fuel at the end.

Just before he is violently "removed" from the plane by Colonel Stuart, McClane pulls the handle on the fuel storage. At no time, does General Esperanza notice this. Surely there would be a fuel guage in the cockpit to monitor the amount in the jet? I know we the audience, are being set up for a dramatic pay off scene when the McClane prevents their escape.

There's so much fuel in an airplane maybe it hadn't gotten to the gauges yet. Still the best "Yippie kye Aye, Mother *******!" scene in the franchise.

I don't know anything about flying planes but my college professor is also a pilot. He told me that a light on the plane's dashboard would alert the pilot the gas cap was open and losing fuel. Esperanza must not have noticed this

Now thinking of it, Esperonzo may not have ever flown a commercial large size airplane before so that might also be the issue.

It's a movie in real life it would play out a lot different.

Cockpit would have warnings and the pilot would understand them it's basic training when you get a license which covers all aircraft.

reply

you're missing the point Misty..
even if Esperanza realizes the fuel is leaking he has no choice but to
a: stop the plane (?)
b: continue and take his chance
c: send out another douche to investigate the wing

all options lead to BOOM
