It's funny Robert Patrick is in this.

I saw both this and Terminator 2 as a kid and saw Terminator 2 first. It is funny he appears as one of the bad guys and even has a brief line. When first watching it, I was like, "Wow! The guy that played the T-1000 is in this!" Because of how much I watched both these movies I can't help but just think that every time I watch it. I don't know if the film makers of this knew he'd be the main antagonist in Terminator 2 but it is kind of funny this was made a year before that and they felt the need to choose him for the small role.

Another connection between Die Hard and T2: in 1989, it was briefly reported that John McTiernan would direct T2. James Cameron was going to only write and produce. As for why this didn't happen, it was because Orion no longer had the rights to do a sequel.

It'd probably would have been a bit different if Mctiernan directed it.

It would have been better. McTiernan was God when it comes to action movies.

It's a good movie, though. Being the movie in middle of Die Hard and Die Hard 3 is not an easy task. Renny Harlin is not McTiernan, but he still did a good job.

McTiernan directing T2 would have been quite something. Reuniting with Arnie after working with Willis may have him given a different perspective.

Part of the attraction behind the first Die Hard was that Bruce Willis wasn't your typical action hero, so maybe Linda Hamilton would have been directed differently so that people understood the difference between John Connor being protected by a human and a machine.
