this is the best Die Hard film.

in my opinion this is the best film of the series.

I don't like the first one much,but I like everything about this one,am I in a minority?

Roger Ebert agrees with you.

I like Die Hard 2, and Cliffhanger was awesome, but of all the people 20th Century Fox could have tapped in 1989 to direct this, why Renny Harlin?

I believe you are in a minority, as am I. My impression is that most fans, at least on this board regard this as the worst of the first four Die Hard films. (I haven't seen the fifth, which has been almost universally panned.) I was very disappointed with II when I first saw it in a theater when released. But it has grown on me. I've watched Die Hard I and II every Christmas season since the early '90s and I now like them almost equally. I think there is a big gap between the first two and Die Hard With a Vengeance (though I watch that one most summers and it has grown on me as well). I still don't like the fourth one much, especially since the R rated version is not still not available on Blu-Ray (as far as I know; my 4-film Blu-Ray set only has the theatrical PG-13 version), though I watched the R rated version once--with the one and only catchphrase--on DVD.

Die hard 1 is the best IMO. 2 and 3 are also great

I do agree, I like the first 4 (5 was an embarrassment to the franchise). Especially this time of year at Christmas Die Hard 2 feels more like a Christmas film than the first

reply

I prefer the original, but this is my favorite of the sequels.

Nah. The original is in another league to this film. This feels like a B movie in comparison. Not bad. Just isn't the original.

You're not wrong.

I think the original Die Hard is technically a better film than this. There's more atmosphere and tension, and McTiernan can tell a better story with the camera than Harlin can. Vernon from the Breakfast Club is hilarious, too.

I prefer this movie to the first because I think the story & setting is more original, but Die Hard is undoubtedly a more skilfully crafted film.

You didn't like the first one? That explains why you liked this one.

Frankly, this is how I'd rank them.
Die Hard-10/10
Die Hard with a Vengeance-10/10
Die Hard 2-8/10
Live Free or Die Hard-7/10
A good Day to Die Hard-5/10.
