They were all in School Daze and in this film as well.
This is what attracted me to this film.
Isn't it likely that when shooting School Daze, James Bond III (who wrote and directed Def By temptation) told them about the movie he was working on and got them on board?
I think it was shot during the same time as Do the Right Thing, like, maybe 6 months after School Daze was finished.

I don't think it was shot the same time as Do the Right Thing because Samuel Jackson and Bill Nunn had big parts in Do the Right Thing. Bill Nunn had a big part in this film too so probably slightly after.
