Rebirth of The Incredible Hulk

Does anyone know if a script exists and if so is it possible to get a copy?

reply

I dont know about that. But while I'm here writing this post, this is a rumor I heard about it's plot synopsis:

It's 4 years later. Dr. David Banner, thought to have died at the end of DOTIH, is in a coma. He wakes up from it, to find he's not only alive, but that also he's been cured of The Hulk. But there is a problem. David still has nightmares in which he still sees The Hulk inside his head. Meanwhile, he's also about to stand trial for the murder of Dr. Elaine Marks.

That's the rumor I heard, but I could be wrong.

It would be cool if the next Marvel Comics character to appear in this installment was either Iron Man or The Thing. I say Iron Man b/c I really am a fan of him. I say The Thing b/c him and David both have the same "problem".

I could hear the line right now: "Yer one lucky sunuva gun Dave. At least ya could turn back to bein' human, while I'm stuck as a big orange freak!"

Also reccomended: This novel called The Incredible Hulk: What Savage Beast.

That sounds like it could have been a good movie.

Yes, most definatly. It would've been. I'd love to get my hands on a copy of the script, just so I could read through it, and imagina, "What would've it been like?"

There was another version of the story that I heard:

Dr. David Bruce Banner really IS dead. Scientists have recovered his body and are studying the effects of his mutation. They find an abnormality in his DNA that allows them to not only intentionally (or unintentionally, I'm not sure which) resurrects Banner, but allows his mind to be in the body of the Hulk. Internet rumors, from what I have read, also insist that they were going to get Jack McGee back for one last time, but that is not confirmed by ANYONE that was involved. At least, not that I'm aware of.

In the DVD of the two Hulk movies ("The Incredible Hulk Returns" and "The Trial of the Incredible Hulk", respectively), Lou Ferrigno himself said the new TV movie was going to have the Hulk speak like he did in the comics. However, nobody has a copy of the script and the project ended with Bill Bixby's death, so we'll never really know for sure.

I can tell u that there was no script wrote for this movie, yes there were some plans for it but thats as far as it went, there were no ideas or scripts wrote, everything u read on the internet is rumour.

It's a shame they weren't able to get "Rebirth Of The Incredible Hulk" made before Bill's unfortunate passing. That could've ended the series on a better note than The Death Of The Incredible Hulk did. But i guess the whole point was that David was finally free from The Hulk, which is what he wanted. Unfortunately it took death to do it.

But still, i would've loved to have seen "Rebirth Of The Incredible Hulk" made. I'm sure it would've been great.

was the she hulk going to be in the rebirth movie

There was suppose to have been talk about putting She-Hulk in "Rebirth Of The Incredible Hulk". It would've sorta been another post-series Hulk tv movie and also a pilot for a She-Hulk tv series. There was also talk of She-Hulk tv series without using The Incredible Hulk as a way of introducing her. There were promo shots of Brigitte Nielsen in She-Hulk make-up and costume, but nothing ever came of it. Iron Man was also a suggestion to be in "Rebirth Of The Incredible Hulk" and end up getting his own tv series.

She-Hulk probably would've been the better way to go though. The idea would obviously fit in better with The Incredible Hulk and an Iron Man tv series would seemingly be very costly. Especially the costume and the effects it'd take to properly create Iron Man's powers. I guess i could be wrong about that though...

Anyways, here's a link so you can check out the promo shots of Nielsen in the She-Hulk get-up if you want: http://xoomer.alice.it/amasoni2002/shl/marvel/she-hulk_(1991).htm

In last years Superhero movie issue of Back Issue magazine, Lou Ferrigno said that the title would have been "The Revenge of the Incredible Hulk". He also confirmed the rumors of a live-action Hulk/Spider-Man team up film that was proposed when both shows went off the air. The telefilm, which would have been made a few years after the hulk television ended was scrapped partly because Ferrigno wasn't interested.

reply

Don't know about the Spiderman crossover, but Ferrigno, like Bixby and Colvin would have continued the TV series...

reply

Look at the interview with Lou on the 'Returns' DVD, they briefly show the scripts title page. Therefore it must exist, and it is written Gerard DiPego, the writer of 'Trial' and 'Death'.

reply

Lou Ferrigno has said that wasn't true. There were talks of a reunion movie with Spiderman but he didn't hear about it until years later. He was overseas doing another film. He didn't turn down the opportunity, he was never presented with it.

reply

The script never existed. It was only planned.

reply

Any chance Kenneth Johnson or Gerald DiPego could still write something? Even though the actors are gone, I would personally love to be able to visualize Jack Colvin and Bill Bixby bringing the words to life. Imagine a scene where, if Banner is indeed supposed to stand trial, McGee comes to meet with him in jail, or has to testify....something...anything. The possibilities are endless.

reply

i think it's actually good the series ended with The Death of The Incredible Hulk. I mean this way The Hulk died in the series ending the series, and Bill Bixby will always be remembered for this series even though Lou Ferrigno (spelling???) is still alive

They wanted him for a cameo in the movie My Favorite Martian since he was in the TV show but he was already dead. They did the next best thing: Darryl Hannah was wearing an Incredible Hulk T shirt.

Hmmm. My favorite FFer in a Hulk installment. Could be interesting.

How would one pull that off though? Not everyone seems satisfied with him being a man in a costume.

Given the fact that it was around 1992 when this project was being concieved, The Thing would probably be done with the same effects that brought the Ninja Turtles to life in the Ninja Turtles movies. Back then CGI was still fairly new and quite expensive. Also, since this was a made for tv flick, it would have a fairly low budget too.

Again who knows what it wouldve been like?

reply

I disagree about David and Ben having the same problem. Ben may not look human anymore, but at least he still has his mind intact.

Everything I've heard indicates that Return of the Incredible Hulk would have featured Tony Stark AKA Iron Man. Now the question is how Shellhead would have been revised for the universe in which the TV series takes place. Given it's more realistic nature, I'm betting that we wouldn't have seen the Mandarin. And I'm betting that Stark would be more of a smalltime hi-tech scientist, not the high profile billiionare industrialist from the comics with big connections to the government and SHIELD. He would probably be changed the same way Don Blake(Thor), Daredevil, and the Kingpin were changed to make them fit more in the real world. Though I'm sure that they would preserve the basics of the character such as his heart problem and the device he wore to counter it.

Iron Man's armor wouldn't have been too difficult to do in 1992-93. Anybody remember Superforce and Mantis from around the same period?

Watch the Incredible Hulk movies on DVD and look at the extras. In there is an interview with Lou Ferrigno where he talks about the rebirth of the incredible hulk. They actually show a brief shot of the cover-page of the script so it does or has existed. Lou also talked about the plot which was to be that David is not dead, his mind was trapped in the hulks body, thus the hulk was going to be able to speak. I swear im telling the truth. Watch the interview if you want proof. Or let me know and ill try and post it online.

It's a real shame that Bill Bixby passed away, but I'm glad that "Rebirth of The Incredible Hulk" was never made. I think that "Death Of The Incredible Hulk" was the perfect way to end the whole thing. I figured that it would end with David Banner being cured, so I was shocked when I found out that the Hulk died at the end of the movie.

reply

The Death of the Incredible Hulk was a great homage to Bill Bixby even though it was made before he passed.

I agree. I haven't seen "Death of the Incredible Hulk" in a long time.
