Did anyone else feel sorry for the Hulk himself?

I'm not talking about Dr. Banner, but rather, the monster. Banner wants to be rid of it so much and so badly...but I just feel like he doesn't really know or understand it. The Hulk never seemed to me to be an evil creature, or a Mr. Hyde like persona. He just seemed confused and misunderstood a lot.

I felt badly for the Hulk too. I can understand, however, why David didn't want to transform since it kinda wrecked his life.

Plus he had to worry about what the Hulk would do.

I think that there is generally sympathy for the 'monster' in the older type of movies. He was so gentle to the girl when he looked at her.

Yes.

He's a good guy at heart A sympathetic character.

This topic makes me think of a thing they decided to do in the 80s in Hulk comics where they have it revealed that Bruce Banner developed multiple personality disorder as a child from his dad abusing him verbally and physically. And that the Hulk was a dormant personality in his head from that abuse that the gamma rays uncovered. I had been reading the comics over the past 5 years though once getting to the 90s comics recently I got bored of it and decided a few days ago to reread the comics from the 60s, 70s, and 80s) Anyway, I do sort of like that idea that the Hulk and how he acts is really just Banner venting his emotional problems while in his Hulk form. I admit though that this aspect of Hulk was not adapted well in the 2003 Hulk movie. Forgot to mention that in the comics his dad had been dead for years before he became the Hulk.
