One Of The Worst From Van Damme's Glory Years

I love action flicks especially cheesy ones from the 80's to mid 90's but i rewatched 'Death Warrant' yesterday and couldn't believe how bad it was! Now Van Damme is Van Damme in it and thats great, Robert Guillome from 'Benson' was excellent as well but the rest of it was awful. The fights were just too phony i laughed outloud when JCVD knocks out those two thugs who confront him outside his stakeout in the beginning because it was so fake looking!Thats the problem, i didn't want to laugh at how bad it looked i wanted to laugh at Van Damme kicking ass. Another thing is the horrible red & yellow tint to the negative that makes it look really cheap and gives it a total 'C' Movie feel.
I love JCVD's other movies from this time period like the classic 'Blood Sport', 'Lionheart', Universal Soldier' and 'Kickboxer' but this one just doesn't measure up.

100% agree with the remark about Time Cop. Fell asleep watching it three times. Street Fighter was also worse than Time Cop but this movie was enjoyable.

At least it was moderately well acted when compared to some of the other films he made during this period, like the one where he plays twins. That for me was pretty awful and holds up less than Death Warrant.

I also don't know what you mean by the red and yellow tint. I watched it Blu-Ray and the film didn't look any cheaper than any of his other movies around this time like AWOL.

At least they tried to develop a story with this one and wasn't just a basic revenge flick of fighting tournament movie like many of his others. It might not be amongst his best but I think there's worse.

Yeah, it is one of Van Damme's weakest films, in my opinion. Not the worst but pretty bad.

Anyone who says anything negative about this movie, is absolutely "mentally challenged".

This movie was NOT supposed to be a 24/7 a$$ kickin' fest. It was a murder mystery.

Why were people dying left and right, without answers. Plus being in a prison, you have to understand solve a puzzle and take on the BOSS !!

Yeah this is weak alright !!!!

HUGE SHOUT OUT to - Robert Guillaume = never a let down

PS. Maybe anybody who doesn't like this movie = Pudgy Bastudd !!!

Back in the day, this was my second favorite Van Damme movie after Bloodsport.

It's awesome movie, maybe not top 5 but still I have fun time watching it.
