I definitely see where you're coming from, but I love the movie wholeheartedly. This is one of those movies that I won't even try and convince someone to like or belittle your intelligence and attack you if you don't "get it." You got it, how could anyone not, but your tastes just don't jibe with it. It's not for everyone. I think as a viewer you're either with it 100 % or not at all, and when you're not every little fissure becomes a big gaping fault.

I, however, take so much joy in this flick - the cemetery fight complete with weird masks, the mysitcal mumbo jumbo, Goose yelling "*beep* YOU!" at the world before braining a dude with his nunchakus and stealing his motorcycle, Bonecrusher's awesome disaffected youth "I hate people" speech, the girlfriend's body in the trash compactor, the Paul Morrissey-esque junkie dad sequences, the repelling/ninja star armored truck robbery and the grand daddy action kung fu climax spectacular - it's just my cup o' tea and is a great feat for a small, independent exploitation movie made by a 24-year-old kid auteur. For me it balances the cheesiness with all it's grit, and that said - I still think it's superior to that other ridiculously unrealistic and OTT JD/gang cult classic The Warriors, and not nearly as cheesified as that one is. And I dig The Warriors.

why the movie rules, its because IT'S NOT the 80s cheese, but 70s exploitation sleaze, sped up with punk angst.

I adore this movie for multiple reasons.

As far as I'm concerned, this film is far from 'Bad'. Is it amateurish, a little bit. Campy, to a degree. But despite things like that, the movie shines through as a wonderful spectacle of adversity. Made on a budget that would probably barely cover catering for a big-budget actioner, with a cast of mostly non-actors and shot over the course of four years by a director who was barely old enough to drink, the film overcomes any shortcomings, budgetary or otherwise, with flying colours.

It's punchy, keeps the thrills coming, and even dips into territories one would not expect an 80's action/revenge film to venture, with the protagonist struggling with the realities of drug addiction, the pain of the loss of a loved one, the loss of respect for the father, and ultimately, a brutal and bloody journey towards redemption. All these elements are there, despite the minimal budget and limited experience of those involved.

I am Jack's signature.

Well said; and I can't imagine anyone who calls themselves a fan of grindhouse, or action cinema, not having a certain degree of respect for this film. It is a real accomplishment, and also proof that a large budget is not necessary, if the man behind the camera has true, undeniable talent and passion for what he is doing.

Personally, I have never seen such powerful action and passionate film making. What this guy created with almost no money, is undeniably impressive. Why is it "Cheez?" Because it is old, because some of the acting is bad? Because it has an extreme low budget look to it. The director, and star of this movie, Jim Van Bebber is a guy who "lives for film" you say? If that's true than i have even more respect for this man than I did before! The last thing in the world that I want to see, is some big budget, soulless piece of garbage movie, made by some over-privileged brat who thought it would be "cool" to make a movie. I don't know how you can dismiss this as "not good.." did you even stick around for that finale? you realize this guy did his own stunts? Someone willing to risk his life for the sake of art, rates high in my book. Tell me, what have YOU created?

You said you enjoyed it, but you seem to be angry that it sucked.

I didn't like the movie but I do respect what they did with a low budget.
